Toby-the-Spaniel 2010 - 2023
Welcome to Toby the Spaniel's page. As the co-founder of the Pencil Workshop, Toby provided much of the inspiration for this website. He lived a full and happy life for just over 13 years, during which we shared lots of adventures, fun and snacks. Sadly, we lost him in the late summer of 2023, but his memory goes on. He spent one last happy holiday with us on the Isle of Arran in August, and even managed a last 'wind-in-the-ears' full speed run along Sannox beach.

Each year Toby and I have produced a fun, dog-themed calendar, and this year's calendar is a tribute to Toby, and all working dogs wherever they are and whatever they are doing. Toby the Spaniel 2025 Calendar
What is this? - For many years, Toby and I have made Christmas gifts for family and friends. From 2018, we settled on producing dog-themed calendars, inspired by the experience of dog ownership. Sadly, in 2023 we lost Toby after he had accumulated 13 years of intense and full life, but he leaves us with beautiful, lasting memories. As Toby was a co-founder of the Pencil Workshop, it seemed fitting to keep this calendar name as tribute to him. However, we have recently recruited a new member of staff at the Pencil Workshop - Dougie (pronounced 'Duggie') - another working cocker spaniel. Dougie is learning on the job, and is proving to be a great asset to the team and makes several appearances in this year's calendar.
The Toby the Spaniel 205 calendar is free to download and print for your own use as a complete calendar; just click on the image on the left to open up the pdf version. If you are interested in using any of the images for other purposes, do get in touch.
Printing instructions: - This calendar should print on any A4 colour printer. It prints single sided on 13 pages of standard white A4 paper. For a more durable/chewy calendar, print on light card.
Constructing your calendar: - After printing, gather the pages and hole-punch the top edge of the calendar where marked. Loop string or ribbon through the punched holes to keep the pages together. A long treasury tag through the punched holes also works well, and allows the pages to be re-ordered each month.
